The information and complaint of Tax Tai taken

this day before me, the undersigned, one of His Majesty's Justices

of the Peace in and for the said Colony who states:-

I am a fisherman living at Yaumati, Hongkong.

In the Autumn and Winter of 1901 I was living at

No. 1, Shin Hing Lane, Victoria, Hongkong, with Li Kwai Fan who

employed me. On one occasion Li Kwai kan told me that there was a

reward of $10,000 offered by the Canton Viceroy for the death of

Yeung Kui Wan and asked me to assist him in killing him but I

refused to do so.

3. In December, 1900, or January, 1901, I saw Yeung

Tsing Kai, Captain of the Chinese Gunboat "Kin Yui", at No. 1 Shin Hing Lane, and shortly afterwards I saw Chan Lam Tsai and another

man, whose name I do not know, there, and 1 heard Li Kwai Fan,

Chan Lam Tsai and the other man planning the murder of Yeung Kui

Wan.

Chan Lam Tsai and the other man had in their pos-

session two revolvers which I saw.

4. On the 10th. January, 1901, Li Kwai Fan came to

my uncle's boat at Yaumati, and said to my uncle in the presence of Tam Chung and myself that he had killed Yeung Kui Wan. As my uncle would not allow him to stay in the boat I put him ashore and

he went away.

5. I saw Li Kwai Fan in Canton afterwards and he told

me that he had received a reward and official rank for killing Yeung Kui Wan, on the recommendation of Li Ka Cheuk.

6. I again saw Li Kwai Fan in Canton in September,
